On the stand in Netanyahu's trial, former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit said he ordered a wiretap on Nathan Eshel stopped and called the ploy used on state's witness Nir Hefetz improper. The gap between his formal authority and what investigators did is now part of the record.

Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Saar and his wife Meital were arrested with about 20 other suspects in a tender-rigging case. The gap between police wording, the judge's narrower language and the headlines is a test of how consistently Israeli media applies the presumption of innocence.

Testifying for the defense, Avichai Mandelblit conceded he did not approve every police action in the Netanyahu cases. The admission puts a direct question to the court: who actually authorized the investigation of a sitting prime minister?

Four Border Police combat medics received 14 days in military prison for cooking food on Shabbat because their base had no meals available. The soldiers were never told about barbecue restrictions, and their sergeant admitted he was unaware of the rule. Instead of addressing the food shortage, commanders punished soldiers for adapting to survive.

The Knesset approved the death penalty for terrorists today. Beyond the legislative achievement, this is a symbolic moment: proof that an elected government can advance the agenda it was elected to implement, even against stubborn institutional resistance.

With State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman's term ending in July, Netanyahu faces pressure to appoint establishment favorite retired judge Elron while preferring candidates who won't bow to deep state interests.

The Knesset's approval of expanded rabbinical court jurisdiction triggered predictable hysteria from Opposition Leader Yair Lapid, who branded it 'theocracy.' This reaction exposes the secular establishment's double standard on institutional legitimacy.

The Jerusalem District Court ruled that National Security Minister Ben Gvir must promote Inspector Rinat Saban — a Case 4000 investigator — within five days, or the promotion proceeds without him. The case exposes how the judicial system strips executive authority in the name of gatekeeping.

The emerging acquisition of Channel 13 by a group led by Assaf Rappaport is not just another media transaction. For many on the right, it symbolizes the same ideological camp moving from protest power into one of Israel’s most important centers of influence.

In wartime, censorship and security considerations can serve a real purpose. But once restrictions keep expanding, the question is no longer only what must be hidden from the enemy, but also what citizens are still allowed to know about the reality they live in.

The problem is not always one false fact. Sometimes it sits in the framing, the tone, the headline, and in what editors choose to highlight or soften. Five recent examples from ynet show how that works.

The problem at ynet is not always one false fact. Sometimes it sits in the headline, the tone, the selected quote, and the way the reader receives a moral and emotional direction before the article even begins.

Over long months, a clear pattern has been built in Israel. In clashes with the government, the right, and the national camp, the attorney general has repeatedly chosen an activist, expansive, combative line. The question is no longer whether each move can be explained in isolation, but what accumulates when everything points in the same direction.

A dangerous distortion has taken shape in Israel: one camp is allowed to win elections, but the moment it tries to turn that victory into policy, a permanent system of restraint, suspicion, and delegitimization kicks in. Governance has been turned from a basic democratic principle into a dirty word.

Governance is measured not only by decisions, but by the ability to explain direction, signal consistency, and build public trust. Without that, every move turns into another passing headline.
